Go Hoosiers!

What a season it has been for Big Ten Basketball. Top contenders Indiana and Michigan facing off in a make it or break it game this past Sunday afternoon. Two scenarios were present in this game. Either an Indiana win that would make them outright winners of the Big Ten Championship or a Michigan win where they at least lock themselves in a 2 way (possible 4 way) tie with the Hoosiers. The game started off with Indiana propelling themselves to an early 10-3 lead leaving Michigan looking lost. Who would have guessed though, Time Hardaway JR and the Wolverines came right back with a 14-0 run. This continued for the rest of the game, where there was fifteen lead changes and five different times where the game was tied. Player of the year candidates Victor Oladipo and Trey Burke remained relatively quiet through the first half, but they sure showed why they were candidates in the second half. Oladipo and Burke played tough defense and made key shots down the stretch in the second half, but foul trouble left Michigan playing the bench against Cody Zeller and that seemed to be a deciding factor. Zeller was non-existent in the first half. Nonetheless, throughout the second half he showed why he is also a candidate for the Wooden Award. This game came down to the wire with Indiana down 6 points with less than a minute and a half left. Indiana needed to foul and put Michigan on the line... and they did. Michigan studs Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway JR both missed key 1-and-1's to give Indiana a chance to tie the game and eventually take a one point lead with thirteen seconds on the clock. Trey Burke took the ball down the court, drove to the lane and tossed up a contested layup that was eventually tipped by Jordan Morgan with an open look... The ball must have rolled around the rim at least twice before it eventually fell out and Indiana got the rebound to run the time out. This game will be remembered as a classic finish for a long time to come. Now Indiana is celebrating their first Big Ten Title since 1993. Hopefully we see this type of work done throughout March madness.
